The AFRH-W database is a great way to view historical records in a contemporary context. Within the database, records are defined in five different categories:

• Inventory Resource physical resources (buildings, statues)
• Management Area areas of historic or cultural importance
• Management Activity resource management or documentation activities
• Actors individuals or organizations
• Information Resource any type of document, whether digital or physical

These categories each hold different sets of information, and resources in any category may be related to those in any other category. Furthermore, any resource may include spatial coordinates, to give it a location on the earth. That's where the MAP comes in: a way to view the resources spatially as they exist in the real world. To enhance the map, we've added a number of overlays made from historic maps of the area, as well as context overlays that show different zones and management areas within the AFRH-W campus.
